This is the case that will not go away. When news of the alleged attack on Jussie Smollet first hit the world, everyone and their mama’s were transfixed by the bizarre situation. With new computer records recently released by CBS Chicago, however, it seems that no one was more interested than Ola and Abel Osundairo, the two brothers accused of being accomplices with the Empire star in the supposed hate crime.
The records released show that, following the attack, “Jussie Smollet” was searched more than 50 times by the Osundairo brothers.
This case took flight back in January 29 when Jussie reported being attacked around 2a.m. after trying to get a late night snack. Jussie testified to being assaulted by the brothers, and that they used racial and homophobic slurs towards Smollet. He also said that they doused Smollet with chemicals and placed a noose around his neck.
The whole incident would eventually be determined a hoax on the part of Smollet with the help of the Osundairo brothers, and the whole police department were mad as hell, charging Jussie with making false police report and demanding he repay the costs of having to investigate the case. These same charges were later dropped by Cook County’s State Attorney Kim Foxx, who has a lot of side eyes and raised eyebrows directed her way right now because of this decision.
Going back to the search records, along with these, what was also discovered and released was a string of text messages between the brothers and Smollet. One such message from Abel Osundairo reads, “Bruh say it ain’t true. I’m praying for a speedy recovery. Sh** is wild.” Huh?
Following this saga is almost becoming like falling down a rabbit hole. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what the real end is going to be.
